Presentation of Candlesticks

On Sunday 2 June the Congregation of Groomsport Presbyterian Church visited Groomsport Parish Church.

Rev Paul Dalzell presented Rev Duncan Pollock with two specially commissioned silver candlesticks to commemorate the refurbishment of the Parish Church.

The Candlesticks were designed and made by local silversmith, Cyril Flannagan.

The readings were from Genesis, the passage where God made light, and The Transfiguration of Our Lord, again about light.

Rev Dalzell preached a sermon about Light, ending with a reference to the well known children’s hymn – “Jesus Bids Us Shine”.

After the Service, everyone was invited to the Parish Hall for light refreshments.
